St. Joseph’s has served the community of Guelph through epidemics, depressions, and two world wars, displaying its strength and adaptability through the decades. St. Joseph's celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2001. In this 140th anniversary year, St Joseph's services shifted in order to reflect the changing needs of the community. St. Joseph's Health Centre (formerly St. Joseph's Hospital and Home) now focuses on long-term-care, complex continuing care, rehabilitation and community outreach programs.
A new 255-bed facility for St. Joseph's, specially designed to reflect the new service focus, has been built between Edinburgh and Westmount Roads and was completed in the summer of 2002. Long term care residents, the majority of whom are seniors, will benefit from our supportive residential envionment, with programs that restore or maintain social and physical functioning.
Since 1861, St. Joseph's has provided residents and patients in the Guelph and surrounding area with exemplary care. In the establishment of St. Joseph’s Health Centre we remain committed to maintaining this position. In addition to in-house services we also offer our community outreach programs consisting of an Alzheimer Day Centre and an Out 'N' About Day Centre.
